A Tree for Two Cities is a tree planting carbon offset facility, aimed specifically at offsetting emissions produced by the Glasgow-Edinburgh commute. We have set up a tree planting facility to allow those who commute between Glasgow and Edinburgh to buy trees in order to offset their carbon emissions.

A Tree for Two Cities is working in partnership with The Central Scotland Forest Trust. They are an environmental regeneration charity set up to improve the landscape and the lives of the residents of Central Scotland and, in particular, the area between Glasgow and Edinburgh. One of the aims of the Central Scotland Forest Trust is to double the woodland cover in Central Scotland by 2015. A proportion of the monies collected by the scheme will be entrusted to the Central Scotland Forest Trust which will plant and maintain the appropriate number of trees required to offset contributors' emissions. All profits from A Tree for Two Cities will go directly to The Prince's Trust, Scotland to support work with disadvantaged young people.

A Tree for Two Cities was conceived when DLA Piper pledged its support to The Prince's Trust, Scotland's professional challenge, known as the "Lions' Den". The challenge is based upon the popular BBC television show "Dragon's Den".

The aim of the challenge is for competing teams to turn £3,000 into £23,000 in six months through business endeavours. The DLA Piper team, mentored by Jim McColl, Chairman and Chief Executive of Clyde Blowers, aims to exceed the target and raise as much as possible for The Prince's Trust, Scotland.
